This classy Naru collared shirt is hand dyed and painted in India. Made from cotton fabrics, some of which are skillfully painted using the kalamkari method of painting natural dyes onto cotton fabric with a bamboo pen or kalam. The name kalamkari translates as pen work in Hindi and originated as early as the 10th century CE. The British called this type of fabric decoration chintz. Today kalamkari is synonymous with both painted & hand blockprinted textiles that incorporate natural vegetable/organically derived dye stuffs.
