This great all purpose shoulder bag is made in Nepal from recycled silk saris. Our recycled silk sari bags are made from recycled scraps of silk saris that have been spun into a soft and colorful yarn, then woven into fabric. Fully lined with a pocket on inside and magnetic closure. It comes in assorted colors and measures approximately 12"x12 1/2".  

Women in Nepal often have no control over their families finances being encouraged not to work outside the home. This leaves them totally vulnarable should something happen to their spouses.
Paru Sherpa learned this from her mother in law whom was left with 3 small children to raise after her husband had a tragic trekking accident and had to start her own small knitting business.

Paru Sherpa started her own business and now has a co-op of 50 other women whom are working towards creating financial stability for themselves and their families despite the cultural and economic barriers they face as women living in Nepal.
